For Shiwangi Dogra, motherhood has been a journey of constant learning and soft transformation. Originally from Himachal and now living in Chandigarh, her days revolve around her little boy, Mivaan, whose energy, emotions, and little antics are shaping her into a more patient, loving, and go-with-the-flow mother. Like many moms in this phase, she is learning to embrace both the chaos and the beauty that come with raising a toddler.
How has this journey shaped your motherhood?
Motherhood is shaping me to be more patient, loving, and a bit more go-with-the-flow, especially with Mivaan's antics.
What do overwhelming moments look like with your son right now?
Mivaan's overwhelm probably looks like a tiny tornado with tears, screams, and clenched fists.
What does a hard day look like in your home?
Hard days in my house probably involve sleep deprivation, Mivaan's tantrums, and a messy house. Like when he skips a nap and turns into a tiny whirlwind. His nap time for me is me time and helps me recharge.
What values are you hoping to nurture in him from this early stage?
For Mivaan, I hope he grows up kind, curious, and resilient. I want to teach him empathy, how to share, and how to bounce back from falls.
What has your son taught you about yourself?
Mivaan has probably taught me that love is way bigger than I thought. And patience is definitely a work in progress. I have discovered hidden strengths and a whole new level of letting go with him around.
What was the first time bathing him alone like?
Bath time without help was a mix of nerves and excitement. I got nervous at first, but now it is full of splashes and giggles.
Has bathtime become a routine or a ritual?
Bath time has turned into a fun ritual now, full of playful moments.
Which milestone felt emotional because it showed he was growing up?
Milestones feel different when it is your own child. His first steps are our golden moment, and it made me realize he is growing up day by day.
What everyday ritual feels most special to you now?
His bedtime story routine. He wants a new story every day.
When your son grows up, what do you hope he says about you?
I hope Mivaan says I am strong, kind, and that I made him feel loved.
In the Middle of the Mess and Magic
Shiwangi’s story is a gentle reminder that motherhood is not about having everything under control. It is about growing alongside your child, finding patience on the hard days, and holding on to the small, beautiful moments that make it all worthwhile. From tantrums to bedtime stories, every phase is shaping not just the child, but the mother too.
