Your baby’s sensitive skin can get easily affected during the cold weather, leaving it dry, red or inflamed. Make sure that this doesn’t happen by following a few simple winter care tips on a daily basis. We put together a quick checklist to help you keep your baby warm & cozy during winter.
1. Master the Art of Layering
Babies lose heat faster than adults, but overheating is a real risk in the varying Indian climate. The secret is layering. Start with a Softsens Bamboo Bodysuit as a breathable base, then add a Cottage Collection cotton romper. If you’re heading out, top it with a jacket, depending on the temperature.
- Pro-Tip: If your baby’s chest feels sweaty or their face looks flushed, peel off the top layer. Always keep ears and feet covered during those early morning park visits!

2. Choose "Second-Skin" Fabrics
When layering, the fabric touching your baby’s skin is the most important. Avoid putting wool directly on the skin as it can cause "winter prickle" or rashes. Stick to Softsens signature bamboo or 100% GOTS certified organic cotton. These are hypoallergenic and won't irritate sensitive skin or cause flare-ups.

3. Shield Those Rosy Cheeks
Chubby cheeks are cute, but winter wind can make them chapped and sore. Apply Softsens Natural Face & Body Cream before heading out. Enriched with Milk Cream and Shea Butter, it creates a barrier against the dry wind.

4. Keep Bath-Time Quick & Lukewarm
Long, hot baths strip away natural oils. Limit bath time to under 10 minutes using lukewarm water. Switch to the Softsens Baby Natural Bar - it’s packed with Almond Oil and Honey to lock in moisture while you cleanse.

Indian Winter Hack: On very cold days, skip the full bath and give a warm sponge bath instead, focusing on neck folds and the nappy area.
5. Be Eczema-Aware
Winter is prime time for eczema "flare-ups" due to the drop in humidity. Look for red, scaly patches. Using 100% Organic Cotton apparel helps significantly as it’s free from the toxic chemicals that often trigger these allergies. If redness persists, consult your pediatrician.

6. Hydrate Inside and Out
The golden rule: Moisturize within 3 minutes of bathing to "trap" the hydration. Use Softsens Natural Face & Body Lotion for the body and the richer Natural Face & Body Cream for extra-dry spots. Also, keep up the breastfeeding or water intake (if age-appropriate) to fight dehydration from the inside.

7. Ditch the Heavy Blankets for Sleep Pods
Safety first! Heavy duvets or loose blankets are a SIDS risk and can cause overheating. Instead, use a Softsens Bamboo Swaddle or a Sleep Pod. They provide that secure, womb-like warmth without the weight.

8. Don’t Skip the Massage
A winter massage is essential for blood circulation and skin suppleness. Ensure the room is warm and use Softsens Calming Massage Oil with Olive extracts and Vitamin E. It’s the perfect way to bond while conditioning their skin against the dry weather.

9. Winter Nappy Care
Cold weather often means more frequent urination. Combined with layers of clothing, the nappy area can stay damp and get irritated. Change diapers regularly and use Softsens Baby Skincare Wet Wipes with Aloe Vera to cleanse without stripping the skin’s natural moisture.

10. Humidity is Your Friend
If you use a room heater, the air can become incredibly dry. Place a humidifier (or even a bowl of water near the heater) to add moisture back into the air. This helps your baby breathe easier and prevents their skin from feeling like parchment paper.
